Le Grand Cru Kirchberg
An exceptional soil
Demarcated to the south by the town of Ribeauvillé and to the east by the Grand Cru Geisberg vineyards, this locality enjoys south and south-west exposure, which, combined with a very marked slope, gives it excellent amount of sunshine during the ripening period.

Its substratum consists, downstream, of Triassic dolomitic marl and dolomites from the lower Muschelkalk period, and upstream, of sandy, gypsiferous variegated marls from the middle Muschelkalk period. Clayey soil, frequently pebbly characterises this vineyard situated at an altitude of 270 to 350 m.

Preferred grape varieties
Riesling gets the best out of the quality of sunshine in this locality covering a surface area of 2.5 ha.

For as long as a connoisseur can remember
Mentioned for the first time in 1328, according to the famous historian Médard Barth, the Kirchberg encompasses some of the best soil on the town's territory. The wines produced on this soil have long been known under Kirchberg appellation..

Typical qualities
Great delicacy, a robust body: over time our Riesling Grand Cru Kirchberg develops remarkable aromas characteristic of the marly calcareous soil.
